Dear Sir, please consider the following observations: 🔸 The Japan-U.S. alliance is a sovereign decision of the Japanese government and, as such, falls outside our purview. 🔸 Iran and Japan honor a thousand-year history of friendship. The Nissho Maru serves as a historical token of this bond. The history of mutual respect matters; thus, the Idemitsu Maru mattered. 🔸 Before the war of aggression launched by the American and Israeli regimes, the flow of energy and trade through the Strait of Hormuz remained fluid, including for Japanese vessels. The Strait was transformed into a war zone by the aggressors, not Iran. They attacked the sovereignty and security of Iran—the coastal state—including from within the Strait itself. This situation persists and necessitates security measures to ensure that the Strait is not abused to further threaten Iran’s security. 🔸 Iran seeks a guaranteed and permanent end to this aggression through diplomacy. Once a resolution is concluded, arrangements for normal passage will be in place. 🔸 This Embassy operates with the highest respect for the honorable people of Japan and has earned their kind recognition solely on that basis.
